Sustainably with ampliTex™️
The climate crisis is an existential threat that cannot be ignored. We must radically reduce carbon emissions to stop the global warming.
At HAVU Snow, we’ve been innovating the secrets of sustainable ski manufacturing for over 6 years. Since the very first pair of skis. Our never ending passion is to make things right for the nature.
Innovative and 100% natural ampliTex™️ flax fibers play a major role in the construction of our downhill skis. By being a completely renewable and CO2 neutral material, flax fibres sequester CO2 from the atmosphere during their growth, acting as a natural CO2 sink. This combined with a significant amount of wood in our skis makes them close to being carbon neutral.
Flax is an indigenous plant that grows naturally in Europe and has been part of the agricultural history for centuries. It requires very little water and nutrients to grow successfully. In addition, it acts as a rotational crop, thus enhancing harvests on existing farmland. Neither cultivation nor processing of the flax plants requires any chemicals that could contaminate ground water. After harvesting the entire flax plant can be used for feed, to make oil and for other purposes. The long fibre that comes from the flax plant possesses very good mechanical properties and outstanding dampening properties in relation to its density, making it especially suited as a natural fibre reinforcement.
Circular economy. AmpliTex™ fabrics are not only CO2 neutral cradle-to-gate but also offer viable end-of-life options. While recycling solutions for traditional composites are still being developed, parts made with flax fibre reinforcements can already today be used for highly efficient thermal energy recovery rather than ending up in landfills.
Ski construction has remained the same for decades. – We decided to change that.
The best performing skis with the minimal impact for the Planet.
